Exaltation of the Afflicted

61 The (A)Spirit of the Lord [a]God is upon me,
Because the Lord anointed me
To (B)bring good news to the (C)humble;
He has sent me to (D)bind up the brokenhearted,
To (E)proclaim [b]release to captives
And [c]freedom to prisoners;
To (F)proclaim the favorable year of the Lord
And the (G)day of vengeance of our God;
To (H)comfort all who mourn,
To (I)grant those who mourn in Zion,
Giving them a garland instead of ashes,
The (J)oil of gladness instead of mourning,
The cloak of praise instead of a disheartened spirit.
So they will be called [d](K)oaks of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

Then they will (L)rebuild the ancient ruins,
They will raise up the former devastations;
And they will repair the ruined cities,
The desolations of many generations.
(M)Strangers will stand and pasture your flocks,
And [e]foreigners will be your farmers and your vinedressers.
But you will be called the (N)priests of the Lord;
You will be spoken of as (O)ministers of our God.
You will eat the (P)wealth of nations,
And you will boast in their [f]riches.
Instead of your (Q)shame you will have a (R)double portion,
And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion.
Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land,
(S)Everlasting joy will be theirs.
For I, the Lord, (T)love justice,
I hate robbery [g]in the burnt offering;
And I will faithfully give them their reward,
And make an (U)everlasting covenant with them.
Then their offspring will be known among the nations,
And their descendants in the midst of the peoples.
All who see them will recognize them
Because they are the (V)offspring whom the Lord has blessed.

10 I will (W)rejoice greatly in the Lord,
My soul will be joyful in (X)my God;
For He has (Y)clothed me with garments of salvation,
He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness,
As a groom puts on a turban,
And (Z)as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
11 For as the (AA)earth produces its sprouts,
And as a garden causes the things sown in it to spring up,
So the Lord [h]God will (AB)cause (AC)righteousness and praise
To spring up before all the nations.

13 Therefore, [a](A)prepare your minds for action, [b](B)keep sober in spirit, set your (C)hope completely on the (D)grace to be brought to you at (E)the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As [c](F)obedient children, do not [d](G)be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your (H)ignorance, 15 but [e](I)like the Holy One who called you, [f](J)be holy yourselves also (K)in all your behavior; 16 because it is written: “(L)You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

17 If you (M)address as Father the One who (N)impartially (O)judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves (P)in fear during the time of your (Q)stay on earth; 18 knowing that you were not [g](R)redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your (S)futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious (T)blood, as of a (U)lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. 20 For He was (V)foreknown before (W)the foundation of the world, but has (X)appeared [h]in these last times (Y)for the sake of you 21 who through Him are (Z)believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and (AA)gave Him glory, so that your faith and (AB)hope are in God.

22 Since you have (AC)purified your souls (AD)in obedience to the truth for a (AE)sincere love of the brothers and sisters, fervently love one another from [i]the heart, 23 for you have been (AF)born again (AG)not of seed which is perishable, but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring (AH)word of God. 24 For,

(AI)All flesh is like grass,
And all its glory is like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
And the flower falls off,
25 (AJ)But the word of the Lord endures forever.”

And this is (AK)the word which was [j]preached to you.

The Bride

“Listen! My beloved!
Behold, he is coming,
Leaping (A)on the mountains,
Jumping on the hills!
My beloved is like a (B)gazelle or a (C)young [a]stag.
Behold, he is standing behind our wall,
He is looking through the windows,
He is peering (D)through the lattice.

10 “My beloved responded and said to me,
(E)Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along.
11 For behold, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone.
12 The blossoms have already appeared in the land;
The time has arrived for [b]pruning the vines,
And the voice of the (F)turtledove has been heard in our land.
13 The (G)fig tree has ripened its fruit,
And the (H)vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance.
Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along!’”

The Groom

14 (I)My dove, (J)in the clefts of the [c]rock,
In the hiding place of the mountain pathway,
Let me see [d]how you look,
(K)Let me hear your voice;
For your voice is pleasant,
And [e]you look (L)delightful.”

The Chorus

15 (M)Catch the [f]foxes for us,
The [g]little [h]foxes that are ruining the vineyards,
While our (N)vineyards are in blossom.”

The Bride

16 (O)My beloved is mine, and I am his;
He (P)pastures his flock among the lilies.
17 (Q)Until the cool of the day, when the shadows flee,
Turn, my beloved, and be like a (R)gazelle
Or a young stag (S)on the mountains of [i]Bether.”

Jesus Appears at the Sea of Galilee

21 After these things Jesus [a](A)revealed Himself (B)again to the disciples at the (C)Sea of Tiberias, and He revealed Himself in this way: Simon Peter, (D)Thomas who was called [b]Didymus, (E)Nathanael of (F)Cana in Galilee, (G)the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. Simon Peter *said to them, “I am going fishing.” They *said to him, “We are also coming with you.” They went out and got into the boat; and (H)that night they caught nothing.

But when the day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not (I)know that it was Jesus. So Jesus *said to them, “Children, (J)you do not have any fish to eat, do you?” They answered Him, “No.” And He said to them, (K)Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you will find the fish.” So they cast it, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great quantity of fish. (L)Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved *said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he was stripped for work), and threw himself into the sea. But the other disciples came in the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but about [c]two hundred cubits away, dragging the net full of fish.

So when they got out on the land, they *saw a charcoal (M)fire already [d]made and (N)fish placed on it, and bread. 10 Jesus *said to them, “Bring some of the (O)fish which you have now caught.” 11 So Simon Peter went up and hauled the net to land, full of large fish, 153; and although there were so many, the net was not torn.

Jesus Provides

12 Jesus *said to them, “Come and have (P)breakfast.” None of the disciples ventured to inquire of Him, “Who are You?” knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus *came and *took (Q)the bread and *gave it to them, and the (R)fish likewise. 14 This was now the (S)third time that Jesus revealed Himself to the disciples, after He was raised from the dead.
